The Water Is Watching

Mon 24th Aug 2026

It was a Tuesday,

Or maybe a Thursday.

The drizzle started softly,

Like a whisper,

Like a promise.

Then came a call.

“He got swept away.”

Four words.

Four nails for a coffin

We never planned to build

For another forty years.

Four words,

And the world goes on pause.

Four words,

And the sun forgets how to rise.

Silence filled the room.

Tears rolled uncontrollably.

But the rain…

The rain is still falling.

Water is life.

This is what they taught us.

This is what we know.

But water

Can also be death.

Of course, you will mourn.

Of course, you will ask questions.

“What were you doing outside?”

“Why did you play the hero?”

“Where was his mother?”

But let me ask you

Why do we treat gutters

Like dumping grounds?

Why do we fill streams with plastic?

Why do we block its path

Then cry

When it finds its way into our homes?

We have given it no path.

We have filled its roads with waste.

We have blocked its journey with plastic.

We have forced it into our homes,

And now it is forcing its way back.

The rain is still falling.

Will we wait

For it to rise

And take what we refuse to protect?

Because this is not just about rain.

It is about the choices we make

When no one is watching.

The choice is mine.

The choice is yours.

The choice is ours.

So perhaps the question is not,

“When will the rain stop?”

Perhaps the question is

When will we start taking responsibility?

The water is watching.

And the rain…

The rain is still falling.
